You don’t release your body down into the Earth, or into gravity.
You don’t release your body up into the Heavens, or lift yourself out of compression, or into buoyancy.
You don’t release outward, or inward.
You simply release.
The direction and movement happen on their own.
[Two favorite quotes from a class I was in last week: one from the instructor, Tom Koch: “You don’t relax a bird in a cage; you release it” and the other from another student, who had the revelation that “Oh … grounding isn’t a doing!” (as in, contraction begets contraction, and there’s no contraction you can do to undo another; only release undoes contraction)]
